Aftertreatment and emissions systems

Course topic overview

By the end of this one-day class students will have hands on experience with the proper usage of the tools and methods to diagnose diesel aftertreatment systems correctly and efficiently. Upon completion of the course the students will receive reference material for further self study and also a certificate of completion for the course.

Please note: this class is held at our headquarters in Gilbert, SC. Transportation and lodging costs are not included.

Regeneration System Operation and Diagnostics

Students will learn about the components of the regeneration systems including the DPF, DOC, and more.  Students will learn how these components operate and how to properly diagnose these systems on modern diesels.

SCR System Operation and Diagnostics

Students will also learn the operation and how to properly diagnose today’s newest Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology.  Making students more efficient and aware of the unique problems with today’s most complicated systems

Hands-On Lab Instruction

In this portion of the class,  students will get hands on experience diagnosing Aftertreatment systems,  as well as performing regeneration diagnosis on an actual vehicle.

Class location

PLEASE NOTE: This is not an on-line class. This class will be held at the Diesel Laptops Training Facility in Gilbert, SC. See the Map below for address and directions. Travel arrangements and hotel accommodations will not be provided by Diesel Laptops.  

Class Schedule

Classes are scheduled to last from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. As this is a full-day course, we will allow for several short breaks throughout the day in addition to a longer lunch break.

A morning snack with coffee and a catered lunch will be provided by Diesel Laptops. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know the Friday before your class.

Dustin Carnes has more than 12 years experience as an L2 ASE Master certified Diesel Technician. In 2012, he won 1st place at the South Carolina Trucking Association's Technician Rodeo.

He has the following additional certifications:

  • Mitsubishi FUSO certifications

Diesel Technologies Instructor

Scott Meek has fifteen years hands on experience as a diesel technician.
He specialized in advanced diagnostics for engines, electrical systems, and after-treatment
issues.

  • Navistar DLB advanced logic level 3 certified
