Since 1976, when the first anti braking system was developed for heavy duty applications was the beginning stages of it. As technology is advancing at a rapid pace and has become increasingly sophisticated. In this class, you will learn how to elevate abs diagnostic skills and learn how all the different components and systems that make up anti braking system work together which will result in troubleshooting a lot more confident and knowing that you found the root cause quickly and effectively. All courses are led by experienced, certified diesel technicians.
Anti Braking System Components
You will learn the theory, functions, operation and diagnosis of most common abs systems. How abs speed sensors work and different types. Go over modulator valve operation and air flow. Diagnose and test speed sensors, wiring, modulator valves and communication concerns.
See All Topics
Topics Covered:
ABS Electronic Control Unit:
- How ABS ECU process signal inputs such as abs speed sensor
- How ABS ECU process signal input from manual switch from operator blink codes
- How ABS ECU monitors wheel slip or lock and how it corrects and what output it commands for a safer braking
- How ABS ECU controls engine torque, slip, wheel lock through fast acting J1939 communication protocols.
ABS Operation and Diagnostics:
- How to establish communication with the ABS ECU either by blink codes when diagnostic software is not available, or with diagnostic software.
- How to identify issues causing ABS problems and how not to miss this step when troubleshooting.
- How to use common tools like the multimeter to find the root cause.
- How to differentiate between component failure, wiring failure, or failure inside the ABS ECU.
Sensors, Wiring, and the ABS ECU
- Our instructors will explain the difference between sensor, wiring, or ABS ECU that is causing the issue.
- Learn the correct procedure for removing and replacing new components. Learn how to re-program, align and install them correctly for the ABS system to work correctly.
ABS Diagnostics
To establish communication with the ABS ECU, one can use blink codes or diagnostic software, and it's crucial to correctly identify issues causing ABS problems during troubleshooting. Utilizing common tools like a multimeter helps in finding the root cause and differentiating between component, wiring, or ABS ECU failures.
Sensors, Wiring, and the ABS ECU
Our instructors will explain the difference between sensor, wiring, or ABS ECU that is causing the issue.
Programming Sensors
Learn the correct procedure for removing and replacing new components. Learn how to re-program, align and install them correctly for the ABS system to work correctly.
Hands-on Training
To reinforce the concepts learned in this course, you'll perform hands-on labs with learning aids developed by our training department. We'll also perform a live regeneration to validate the concepts learned during the lecture portion of this course.
Benefits for Diesel Technicians
You'll sharpen the skills necessary to simplify diagnosing these seemingly complex systems. This knowledge will help you diagnose vehicles all across the board as this training is not specific to any one manufacturer, and we go over most variations you'll find.
Benefits for Shop Owners and Managers
The skills your technicians learn in this class will help them diagnose equipment quickly and efficiently, resulting in less time wasted on incorrect diagnostics and repairs, ultimately leading to less downtime. Your customers will be breaking down your door when they find out how quickly you can get them back up and running.
